The Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTN) relying on the Victorian copper-based analogue lines will be phased out by December 2025.

The transition to fully digital (IP-based) networks by both BT and Openreach is underway. Openreach is discontinuing old Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) products. While BT is retiring the PSTN and ISDN lines with the final switch off dated for December 2025.
